The 4th trip of the Kumano Kodo series!
This time I walked over 60km of Nakahechi from Kii-Tanabe to Kumano Hongu in 3 days and 2 nights.
I walked the Nakahechi route in August last year, but I went through a different course that I didn't go through that time: Shiomi Pass, Akagi-goe, and Dainichi-goe.

Shiomi Pass is a shortcut from Shimomisu to Takijiri/Takahara, and from the cedar trees along the way, you can enjoy a spectacular view of Tanabe Bay.
Akagi-goe is the road leading from the vicinity of Funatama Shrine to Yunomine Onsen, and is perfect for relaxing in the hot springs before making a pilgrimage to Kumano.
Dainichi-goe is the road that passes from Yunomine Onsen to Kumano Hongu, and although the distance is short, it is the final hurdle with steep climbs and descents.
