Set to the melody of the famous miners' song "Steigerlied", "Deutsch ist die Saar" (The Saar is German) is considered as one of the anthems of the Saarland in Germany, and was made in the 1920s by Hannes Maria Lux as a nationalistic march-hymn which gained instant widespread popularity during that time of the League of Nations' occupation and mandation of the Saarland. Today the song is not anymore the official anthem of the Saarland, however it is still one of the hymns identifying it.
