----------

Vita Aeterna is a seven-movement cantata for choir and “hybrid-orchestra” (a combination of traditional orchestral instruments with synthetic sounds) combining a mix of traditional Latin texts, scripture passages and poetry.

This project has been in development (off and on) for over 20 years and the intention was to complete it and premiere it LIVE in 2020. I completed composing and orchestrating in early 2020, but then the Covid-19 pandemic rocked the world. In an attempt to keep the project moving forward, this first movement was performed and recorded virtually with the help of many talented vocalists and instrumentalists.

The intent for this work has always been three-fold: (1) to bring musicians from all sorts of backgrounds together for a common purpose to be used as God’s instruments of peace, and (2) to bring people together to hear the hope of God in a musical setting that is welcoming, inspiring, and perhaps even healing, and (3) to give glory to God through music.
