Hello everyone, in today's video we are at our farm in Punta Gorda, Florida. Today we will be trimming coconut palms because they have tons of dead leaves that can be removed.

The dead leaves on the coconut palm play a very important role in keeping the coconut palm warm during the colder months, especially in my situation where I planted all these Dwarf green Malayan coconut palms out in December when we reached very cold temperatures (38F) and the coconut palms suffered greatly but did not die in Punta Gorda.

By trimming them now in March as the temperatures are warming back up we allow the coconut to have a clean look but at the same time promoting root health and keeping the palm healthy.

In the front of my farm, I planted Green Dwarf Malayan Coconut Palms and I also have Yellow Malayan Dwarf Coconut Palms. I also have coconut palms from coconut palms in St. Petersburg Island and Pine Island that are supposedly giant coconut varieties.
