Our Veterinary Medical Center is a teaching hospital that trains future veterinarians. In veterinary school, the fourth year is spent primarily in our teaching hospital, learning from licensed veterinarians. Fourth-year students work on the clinic floor, documenting the medical history of a pet and performing initial exams. They may do certain procedures but only under the direct supervision of a licensed veterinarian or registered veterinary technician. Only licensed veterinarians and specialists perform surgical procedures.
