This is an arrangement I made of Aotearoa favorite and Tūhoe anthem Rua Kenana, composed by David Grace.

Rua Kenana was a Tūhoe prophet who established a community at the foot of Maungapōhatu, receiving spiritual guidance that led to his inheritance as Te Kooti's successor. He was arrested for being against Māori conscription during World War I, and during his time after was denied the benefits of roads being built to the east coast and Rotorua in exchange for land.

This is a live performance at Te Rā o Waitangi 2022.
