We've explored the West Macdonnell Ranges. Now it's time for the East!
After dropping Liz at the airport to fly to Thredbo for her sisters wedding, Simon heads out to Trephina Gorge in the East Macdonnell's for a chilled out few days hanging out with the boys.
Liz enjoys some time in the mountains and reminds us of what we used to spend our winters doing!
After getting resupplied in Alice Springs the family is reunited again when Liz returns and we head out to explore the East Mac Ranges a little more.
We wake to a damp and rainy morning but rather than wait it out, we decided to go for a hike around the rim of Trephina Gorge instead. How had we not heard more about this place!
With no crowds and the landscape's colours enriched by the rain, the ranges come to life.
We're led around the western side of the gorge before descending back into the valley floor on what is one of the best short hikes we've done to date.
