Uh oh, we’ve got yet another prominent Blue Demon gracing us with his presence on this week’s hot new episode - the Assistant Dean of The Theatre School at DePaul University Jason Beck is making his case for the criminally underrated “Kick” by INXS!

Jason was the Director of Admissions at TTS back in Michael and Tyler’s day, so it was a real treat to get to have him on the pod and do a little bit of reminiscing and a whole lot of deep diving on what defines the legacy of a band like INXS. Jason builds a steady, thoughtful case for “Kick” that pulls on his adolescence in Oklahoma, the important friendships we make that act as musical tributaries when we’re young, and how staying power really is the core attribute of a “perfect” album, in his estimation.

(Tyler here.) I’ve got to make mention of how much I appreciated my time working with Jason as an admissions representative during my time at TTS. We listened to great music - in the office, in the van, at karaoke at the Spigot in Lincoln, NE - and I like to think we did our jobs pretty well too! Y’all probably get the drift by now that I quite enjoyed my undergrad years, as much as one can. But I’d be remiss to not express my gratitude for the best student job a goofy-ass Midwestern theatre student could ask for.

But, the question is does Jason have the GOODS? Will his case have sufficient HEAT? Will he earn INXS a place in the TOGT11 pantheon? Only one way to find out.
