真珠の美しい外観は光の干渉によって生じます。それらは一般に干渉色と呼ばれ ています。本講演では、真珠の干渉色の原理や特徴などを解説します。干渉色の 分析の応用例として、干渉色の違いによる真珠養殖用ピース貝の選抜技術をご紹 介します。さらに、真珠の外観が再現可能なコンピューターシミュレーションに ついてもご紹介します。

The interference of light in pearls creates the luster and beautiful colors. In this presentation, the mechanism and characteristics of such interference colors will be explained. A technique for selecting oysters for pearl cultivation based on interference color will be introduced as an example of the application of interference color analysis. Furthermore, physics-based computer simulations that can reproduce the appearance of pearls will be also presented.
