A must visit when in Tokyo, Japan. Founded in 1869, the Yasukuni Shrine contains thousands of photos and letters of Japan's war dead. Some consider this shrine controversial, but for students of history, everything must be placed in proper context. Nothing at the shrine glorifies atrocities. If a place of memorial educates and informs, then it serves a valid purpose.
