1967. English. German. Part of a small series of 16mm clips from Nuremberg and the surrounding area, shot by American cameraman Erik C. Durschmied. This clip takes us to the university town of Erlangen and the Germania fraternity and shows rarely filmed scenes of traditional mensur fencing. There we see rare footage of the so-called academic fencing, which is explained not to be a discipline of sports, but a way of training and educating character and personality.
