We loved exploring Türkiye and hope to return someday. But before we check-out of Türkiye, we leave the boat anchored in Didim and take a tour of Ephesus with a specific mission in mind. Our tour guide first takes us to the “House of the Virgin Mary” a house with a foundation that dates back to 1 AD. Then our guide takes us through the ancient settlements of Ephesus where we see the most well known monuments in Ephesus, the Celsus Library and the great auditorium that dates back to 250 BC. Finally, our guide takes us to Ayaksuluk Hill in a town now known as Selçuk where tradition says the Apostle John wrote his Gospel, died and was buried, and where a Church was built in his memory in the 6th century AD. We loved learning about the important archeological monuments in Ephesus and its role in history. We hope you enjoy watching our small journey through time. Thanks for watching! Mark and Carmela
