Kyo-sashimono wood crafts are one of the traditional crafts of Kyoto. Created by expert craftsmen without the use of metal nails, Kyo-sashimono are said to originate from the court culture of the Heian period(794-1185). The wood crafts can take the form of furnishings or tea ceremony tools, and are created predominantly with paulownia or jindai cedar wood.
