The people have spoken and they have chosen “The Power of Love” as their Valentine’s Day song by a wide margin. The Hedwig and Redbone songs were a virtual tie.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you. It’s probably my wife’s second favorite holiday and there are hearts of all shapes and sizes all over the house.

“The Power of Love” by Huey Lewis and the News was released as a single off of the soundtrack for the movie, “Back to the Future” in 1985. The bass was played by Mario Cipollina who locks in tightly with rhythm section compadre, Bill Gibson on the drums. I’d seen this before, but someone mentioned it in a comment and some of you may find it interesting. It’s a bass solo played by Mario during a live show in Japan. I think it’s great. It’s not too flashy, but it’s melodic and rhythmic enough to be really interesting. And I love how he switches between the thumb-pick and his fingers.

I’m playing the, very reasonably priced, Spector Legend that I got used off of Reverb a few years back. I had a new set of EMG’s and a MightyMite HAZ Clone pre-amp put in it and I’m pretty happy with how it sounds.

Ah, Ozzy’s people took the video down more quickly than I’d anticipated. I’ve filed a counter-dispute that they must respond to it within 30 days at which point they must decide whether to take me to court or to unblock the video. It used to be 10-14 days in which they had to respond, but now it’s 30.
