I really wish I could UNSEE Tyler Perry’s Mea Culpa, but its finally confirmed why I give up on supporting his work. Even with a #1 spot on Netflix, the movie shows Perry’s refusal to grow in his craft, choosing to continue with tired stereotypes again and again. So imma repeat myself, too: Representation matters, but only if its quality. And if he won’t give us quality representation, its up to us to stop supporting his work.
