Knots Landing, the prime time soap opera that aired on CBS from 1979 to 1993, was a spin-off of Dallas, which premiered in 1978. It follows the lives of four couples living at Seaview Circle, and its 14 seasons feature a multitude of themes, spanning murder, kidnapping, assassination, and criminal investigations. Created by David Jacobs, Knots Landing is a critically acclaimed show that enjoyed widespread viewership, especially during the early 80s. The show's star cast includes Michele Lee, Don Murray, Kevon Dobson, Ted Shackelford, Joan Van Ark, Constance McCashin, John Pleshette, James Houghton, Kim Lankford, Patrick Peterson, Claudia Lonow, Julie Harris, and Donna Mills, among others.

Knots Landing enjoyed a viewer base of over 17 million at its peak, with a Nielsen rating of 20.0 and rank 9. The show's dramatic storylines kept audiences hooked for long, and the writers were known to create some of the most nail-biting cliff-hangers. The show's core themes of scandal, suspense, and sex largely contributed to its success. Knots Landing featured the main characters and many new characters over the years, but the last season lost favor with the fans since it focused more on the new characters than the audience's favorites. It's now about 27 years since Knots Landing was canceled, but many continue to revisit the show for its epic drama dose.
