India has had her share of famous physicians and surgeons, yet the statistics bear a dismal picture- females still have a lesser share, especially in Surgery.
Dr. Veena Singh dissects the root of the problem while sharing her own story and discusses how this problem can be addressed at multiple levels - society, family and work environment. She believes that all in all it is one's passion and commitment towards her career that sees all adversities through.
An esteemed member of the Faculty Development Programme of AIIMS Patna. Coming from a family that questioned every decision she made saying it was "reserved for boys", she is a proof that an individual's gender can't be a barrier for their choice of profession. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
