The absolutely AMAZING English fandub of this song can be found here - • Ai no Uta - Pikmin (English Fandub) . For the love of god, give it a listen because it doesn't have NEARLY enough views.
I was hitting burnout when it came to the SpongeBob animatics, so I took a break and came back with a Pikmin one! ... Please don't hate me. Anyway, I f-king adore Pikmin with all my heart, and so I couldn't leave this beautifully tragic song without an animatic of its own. I went out of my way to include elements from all three Pikmin games... and even threw in a reference to Hey! Pikmin too!
The song is in Japanese, because it's the original version and how the song was meant to be heard. However, the on-screen visuals match the lyrics perfectly and I have provided English subtitles if you so desire. I break some rules (like Bulbmin being above ground) for the sake of coolness, and there is a LOT of death.
(EDIT: 26/01/2024) Originally, I mentioned a certain YouTuber in the description of this video and thanked him at the end. News has recently come out that he has been a massive creep and potentially a groomer. While the story involving the 15yo hasn't been confirmed at the time of writing and could very well be fake, I cannot risk it. I have since cropped out the thanks because I don't want that name tainting the video.
I'm keeping the reference to Steve the Trooper, partially because removing it would require taking down the entire video and re-uploading it. I think at this point, Steve the Trooper has been rather divorced from his originator and should remain as something the Pikmin fandom has.
