Penn State concluded a low-scoring 10-0 Blue-White game, dominated by the defense Saturday afternoon. To put a final word on the performance, Blue White Illustrated's experts discuss the game and its major takeaways on field-level after the scrimmage. Thomas Frank Carr talks to BWI publisher Sean Fitz and senior editor Nate Bauer about their thoughts surrounding Blue-White and what they heard afterward.

Check out the full video below.

Quarterbacks look shaky in the face of defense

Fitz discusses how he thought the duo of Drew Allar and Beau Pribula performed on Saturday.

"I think they protected the ball for the most part, and that's really what you're looking for with two young quarterbacks in Drew Allar and Beau Pribula. One turnover, I think, on the second-to-last drive of the game. So [they] protected the ball pretty well. They showed that there's a long way to go before West Virginia in a few months."

But that performance isn't in a vacuum. Bauer thinks that the defensive line has something to do with how the quarterbacks performed.

"If the story of today is that Penn State is stacked at defensive end, then that plays directly into, I think, in some ways, why the quarterbacks perform the way that they did. Drew, does he need to be a little bit more consistent? Probably. I think that's probably fair. But at the same time, he was playing with a right and left tackle that won't be the same necessarily when they get into the season."

Penn State receiver battle update

Bauer also thinks that James Franklin is changing the narrative coming out of spring practice now that he feels confident he's found three quality offensive options,

"Yeah, I would just add to it that in some ways, I think today he moved the goalposts a little bit with that room in a good way if you're if you're Penn State," Bauer said.

Finally, T-Frank is fascinated that the third receiver to separate himself from the group is one of the least likely in the group.

It's interesting that Omari Evans has kind of emerged as that third guy, given his whole background. I'm surprised about that, given how quickly he made that transition to play last year and then to be the guy that kind of breaks out the spring to be that third receiver."

Penn State breaks spring camp and will return at the end of July for the start of fall camp.
