I had an interesting project recently. I needed a temporary solution for a joint that was going to be strong, seamless and removable. Let me explain, we built a display stand for a fancy manhole cover. The manhole cover incorporated small claws to secure the manhole cover within the stand. But here’s the issue I ran into, I needed to be able to remove the top claws to install the manhole cover. Then I needed to install the top claws after installed. In the event the manhole cover needs to be moved, I needed the top claws to be removable. I’ve used the drawbore technique for installing breadboards on dining room tables for a strong seamless joint. After a lot of thought, I figured I could use this same technique for the joint I needed to tackle on this display stand. I explain my thought process and how I went about creating this joint. My intention with this is to show a really creative solution with a pretty simple, time tested technique. I’m hoping someone else runs into needing a solution like this and our video shows up as a solution. I’m often looking for solutions for unique problems like this. The first thing I do is search the internet for someone with a similar solution the problem. I’m often left empty handled to come up a with a solution on my own. That’s totally okay with me but in the spirit of not recreating the wheel, I figure this technique could benefit someone out there. If so, I hope this video finds you! Let me know in the comments what you think about this! #woodworking #diy #shortsfeed #floatingshelves #easter #lasercuttingmachine #rubiomonocoat #tablesaw
