“Congratulations!” is what they told me when I was just a fresh 17 year old.
It wasn’t my birthday, as you’d expect. It was my son’s birth day.

Now it’s ten years ago that I got pregnant and had to raise a child while being a child myself. My mother and I have parted ways. We just couldn’t figure eachother out. That’s where my project begins.


“Liefs, mama” is my hypothetical “what if” scenario of my past. It’s about the struggles of living under a parents roof and rules and simultaneously trying to break out of that intergenerational cycle. It’s about motherhood and coming of age.


The project is a reflection of my commitment to tell a story that is often silenced and give it the heart of someone who lived in it. It’s a reflection of my growth as designer and storyteller. Striving for more understanding, empathy and social awareness. That is the power of visual stories. It’s not about making a film, but about stirring up conversations and bridging gaps.
