This is a Motormouth couple car review of the new 2025 Ford Explorer mid-size 3-row SUV. The Ford Explorer gets some great updates for 2025! Check out the interior, the days of hard plastic in this SUV are gone.
The 2025 Ford Explorer is powered by a 2.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 300 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.
There is a more powerful option, a 3L twin-turbo V6 with 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain is available on the Platinum model, standard on the ST. In Canada, the Explorer is 4WD and in the US, RWD and 4WD options are available.
The 2025 Ford Explorer is a 6-7 passenger vehicle. In Canada every trim is offered with a bench seat. In the US, the ST model is the only one that doesn’t have a bench seat but it could come at a later time. The Explorer comes standard with cloth upholstery, available leatherette, faux suede, leather and quilted leather with piping depending on the trim you choose.
The biggest changes come to the interior especially the added technology with a standard 12.3” digital driver display, 13.2” touchscreen with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto and Ford Digital Experience.
In Canada, the 2025 Ford Explorer Active trim starts at $52,830 CAD, ST-Line $58,830 CAD, Platinum $62,930 CAD and ST $71,430 CAD.
In the US, the 2025 Ford ExplorerActiv RWD/4WD $39,755 USD/$41,755 USD, ST-Line RWD/4WD, $44,515 USD/$47,510 USD and Platinum RWD/4WD $51,655 USD and ST $55,505 USD.
The 2025 Ford Explorer can tow 5,000 pounds.
