Politics has erupted over the issue. DMK said, 'first the BJP changed the Parliament building, then they changed Ahmedabad to Prayagraj, then the names of the three criminal laws, and now the latest is changing the name of Port Blair... The BJP should do something that the people welcome.' Congress also slammed the centre after the renaming. Questioning the motive, Congress asked 'Who will answer on train derailments?'
