The National Hurricane Center is monitoring Hurricane Beryl and a tropical wave in the central Atlantic Tuesday morning.

As of Tuesday's 5 a.m. Advisory from the NHC, Hurricane Beryl has strengthened into a category 5 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 165 mph. The storm has entered the Caribbean Sea after causing widespread damage to the Windward Islands.
