We continued our motorcycle tour of the Mexican state of Guanajuato. San Miguel de Allende, UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the state's other pueblos mágicos are our next stops: Comonfort, Salvatierra, Yuriria and Jalpa de Cánovas. These places are some of Mexico's most beautiful colonial towns.
From our starting point in San Miguel de Allende, we headed to Comonfort, where we ate delicious corn gorditas. Next, we went to Salvatierra, the pueblo mágico on the River Lerma, with beautiful religious architecture, haciendas, convents and old mansions. We also headed south, to the town of Yuriria. The building that immediately catches your attention is the enormous Augustinian convent, which looks more like a castle than a convent. We ended our tour in Jalpa de Cánovas. This town of just a few hundred people started life in the 16th Century as a haciendo of over 70,000 hectares.
