Ibrahim (peace be upon him) is traditionally considered to be the first Jew and to have made a covenant with God. Because Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all recognize Abraham as their first prophet, they are also called the Abrahamic religions.

Ibrahim—the name by which this character is known in the Qur'an—is the second-most referenced person in the Qur’an and he is presented as a sort of primal Muslim.

This outdoor Eid sermon was delivered via the Muslim Community Center - East Bay (MCC East Bay) at San Ramon Sports Grounds in San Ramon, California on June 28, 2023.

Eid al-Adha also called Feast of the Sacrifice, is an important three-day religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to honor the willingness of the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his young first-born son Ismail (Ishmael) a as an act of submission to God and his son's acceptance of the sacrifice, before God intervened to provide Abraham with a ram to sacrifice instead.

The three days and two nights of Eid al-Adha are celebrated annually on the 10th, 11th and 12th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the twelfth and last month of the lunar Islamic calendar.

The occasion of Eid Al-Adha (Festival of the Sacrifice) occurs at the end of the annual Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca) in which Muslims remember and commemorate the trials and triumphs of the Prophet Abraham, upon him be peace.
