I wrote Someone Who Loves Me during a time in my life where I struggled to feel like I belonged; I felt like my friends didn’t want to be around me anymore, I struggled to feel like I was worth being loved, I struggled to feel confident in my own skin because I thought everyone was laughing at how clumsy and how much of a mess I was, I felt invisible around people who claimed to love me, I felt so very alone and unimportant. Everyone else seemed to be doing so much better- they had a boyfriend/girlfriend, they were surrounded by lots of friends who loved them, they were a part of family that was still together and happy, they were achieving their goals and dreams, and everyone could tell that they had a bright future ahead. While writing this song, I literally watched couples and families through a window go on with their day, happy because they had each other. I had a million things to do that day for school and other things but all I could do was stare out the window and observe; comparing myself to the strangers I saw.

So many of us today feel very alone and very much worthless. I wrote this song for you to tell you that you are not alone in those feelings. That not everyone is doing as good as you think. I can promise you, everyone has felt this way before. I hope this song can also be a wake up call that we need to be more aware and observant of how our friends, family members, and even strangers are doing. You never know what someone is going through.
