Masters Criterium National Championships. 65+. Augusta GA 2024. Full race. July 28th. Felt really good for this one, timed my training well. Fast start, had some nerves, but settled in. About halfway, one rider got away, then 2 chasers. At three to go Randy Parker, second place last year, made a move to go across.
I was right there, in hindsight maybe should’ve went with him, 36:30.
It all came back together coming up to 2 go, tried to make a move outside turn 4 to gain spots, a guy took me to the curb when he unclipped his pedal. 39:30
Had to make a big dig to get back position, but couldn’t gain any. Further back than wanted to be starting the sprint, got popped by a couple, too much effort on the last lap. Oh well, fun race though, only four seconds behind the winner, one second behind eighth.
