This is a really cool way to approach playing over chord changes with pentatonic scales. You need to know two types of pentatonic scales, minor pentatonic and 7th pentatonic.

Minor pentatonic is spelled 1 b3 4 5 b7 (Mike Risko Book 1)

7th pentatonic is spelled 1 2 3 5 b7. (Mike Risko Book 2)

Try playing in one position at a time. Play the scale that matches the chord name. When the chord changes try to change scales and grab the closet note available to make the scale change. When the chord changes do not start the scale over from the 6th string.

In the video I am starting on the 5th fret with form 1 of Am then moving to form 4 in Dm then back a fret to form 3 of E7. After you tackle this move up the neck to the next group of scales. Continue until you complete all positions of the guitar neck.

If you are interested, pick up a copy of my book 1 and book 2. I think they will be a huge help.

This is a great way to approach playing over changes. Just use your ear at first and make the scale changes, once you get that together then you can start to target certain tones to become more musical.
