The 1987 PSL championship game pitted Cass Tech (7-1) versus Chadsey (7-1). This championship game featured many future college football players, including a future Detroit mayor (Kwame Kilpatrick).

Chadsey won, 32-6. The Chadsey defense held the Technicians to less than 100 yards and zero passing yards. Chadsey's defense had an outstanding performance from senior linebacker Derrick Hicks #60. Hicks scored three defensive touchdowns (two interception returns and one fumble return) to lead Chadsey to the easy victory. Germaine Williams added two short-yardage touchdowns for Chadsey.
