Concluding the 'Before' trilogy, Jesse and Celine are finally together in 'Before Midnight'. They live together and had twin girls, but never got married. And despite the true love and beautiful romance we saw them develop in 'Before Sunrise' and 'Before Sunset', we're now confronted with the harsh reality that they too have issues in their relationship.

Jesse and Celine disagree on a lot. They want different paths for their lives. They distrust each other. It's nowhere near how peaceful and loving a relationship as we'd expected based on the love we saw them form before. And that brings up the question...what does true love look like? Can real love stay gentle and be everlastingly sweet, or is romance bound to eventually fade away in every relationship? What is the line between healthy compromise and sacrificing your life for your partner?
