At its peak, "Dynasty" even surpassed the popularity of "Dallas," although this dominance was brief. The show began as ABC's strategic attempt to rival CBS's success by focusing on wealthy oil families. Initially, viewers showed little interest in the Carringtons' business ventures. As show creator Esther Shapiro told New York magazine, "We realized that the audience wasn't very interested in the story of the oil workers. But people were just fascinated by what was going on inside that castle." Over its nine seasons, audiences were captivated by the show's wealth, glamour, fashion, and, of course, its dramatic conflicts. The series became so popular that even unexpected actors sought to join the cast. "Dynasty" concluded its final season over 30 years ago, and it is no surprise that some of its beloved actors have since passed away. Here, we remember and honor those who have left us.
