After 10 years of effort and sacrifice, our first students from the Villa Soleada Bilingual School in El Progreso, Honduras, graduate. During graduation, I give a speech in front of students, families, and supporters telling the story of the school—the critics, naysayers, gang wars, extortion, pandemics, hurricanes, and more.

I travel several times to the United States to mount a secret fundraising campaign. I want to surprise my students during the ceremony by getting them university scholarships. My goal is to find 25,000 Lempiras ($USD1,000) for each of them towards university expenses.

Villa Soleada used to be one of the most dangerous and poorest villages in Honduras. Now we are getting closer to our dream of being the village with the highest education rate in the country. Despite so many challenges, thanks to each of you, we crossed the finish line. In today's video we celebrate together our achievements.
