Latinx History is Poster History! Join us in honoring Latinx Heritage Month by welcoming art historian and curator Alejandro Anreus, who will present an overview of posters in Latin America and Latinx communities (Chicano, Nuyorican, Cuban). Anreus’ expertise in the fields of Latin American and Latinx art history will provide an introductory understanding of posters from these diverse and deeply creative communities.

Alejandro Anreus is an art historian, curator and poet, and emeritus professor of art history and Latin American/Latinx Studies at William Paterson University. Though he began his career as an artist, Anreus is now an art historian and poet, and is professor of art history and Latin American/Latino Studies at William Paterson University. Among his many accomplishments, Anreus is a two-time recipient of the Oscar B. Cintas Foundation and has worked as a curator with public collections such as the Montclair Art Museum and the Jersey City Museum during his career.

This program is presented by Poster House’s CMYK Council, the museum’s BIPOC advisory board that works to ensure the museum is accessible to communities of color.
