Similar to Hamilton, who left Marc Mercedes after 12 seasons to sign with Ferrari for the upcoming season, six-time MotoGP world champion Marquez has also joined an Italian team, Ducati.

A year before his contract was set to expire, at the end of 2023, the 31-year-old cut his connections with Honda due to a decline in the Japanese manufacturer's performance.

Marquez suffered several injuries that caused his career to stagnate. In 2018, he sustained a shoulder injury that necessitated surgery and a protracted recuperation period.

His future was then in jeopardy after an arm injury sustained in an accident at Herez in 2020, and he suffered a further blow when he was diagnosed with double vision after another incident at the end of 2021.
