In this video we’ll show how to make a RED DSMC3 camera accept external Timecode and Genlock.

Turn on all your Lockit devices, choose one of them to be the Master Clock – then press-and-hold the green button to broadcast timecode and framerate through ACN and you are set.

Let’s start with Timecode.

Make sure all cameras and Lockits run on the same frame rate.
- Lockit: press green and red simultaneously to enter menu, then and navigate to “Project Rate”
- Camera:
- Enter Menu
- Go to “Project Settings”
- Adjust “Project Time Base”

How to make the camera accept external Timecode:
- Enter Menu
- Go To “Project Settings”
- Go To “Audio / TC”
- As “Timecode Source” select “External”

For this camera you need an TC-SYNC-KMD cable.

Connect it to the Lemo EXT connector.

Now the camera accepts the external Timecode source – indicated by the green “TC” sign

Regarding Genlock there are no additional menu actions on camera.
In the Lockit Menu set to Sync output progressive.

You can use the same TC-SYNC-RED cable – just make sure to connect it to the Sync output of the Lockit.

The EXT interface of the RED accepts both Timecode and Genlock.

Now the camera accepts both external TC and Genlock Signal – indicated by the green highlights. It takes a few moments until the camera calibrates to the Genlock input.
