Let's move on to the exciting part – IEM Rio matches, but first, a funny look at team invitations. G2's invite humorously claims they haven't won a trophy, even though they recently won Blast. ESL might be trolling Blast here. Another funny invite involves Virtus.pro, where their coach's name is crossed out, likely because they've changed coaches often. They even crossed out Dastin's name, who had been with the team for a while.

In Group A, Na'Vi faced Imperial on Nuke. Na'Vi were the clear favorites, and they easily dominated, with every player ending with a positive KD. In another match, Liquid vs. Complexity, Liquid took the lead early and won convincingly on Inferno. Next was the biggest matchup between FaZe and FURIA. FURIA started strong, but FaZe made a comeback. The game went back and forth, but FURIA, powered by the home crowd, took control and won.

The final Group A match was between Mouse and Pain on Dust 2. Mouse started poorly but recovered, taking control after the side switch and securing a win with a clutch play from Toji. As a result, Na'Vi, FURIA, Liquid, and Mouse advanced, while Imperial, Pain, Complexity, and FaZe were sent to the lower bracket.

In the best-of-three matches, Na'Vi vs. Liquid kicked off on Inferno, Liquid's pick. Liquid dominated, winning round after round. Na'Vi couldn't keep up and only managed to secure one round aside from the pistol round. However, on Dust 2, Na'Vi retaliated, winning most rounds and establishing an impenetrable defense. The decider was Ancient, where Na'Vi once again dominated, sending Liquid to the lower bracket.

FURIA vs. Mouz started on Nuke, FURIA's pick. FURIA dominated early on the attack, but Mouz managed to recover slightly. After the side switch, FURIA closed the map with ease. On Mirage, Mouz fought back, winning crucial rounds and forcing a decider on Dust 2. However, on Dust 2, FURIA outplayed Mouz, winning comfortably and sending them to the lower bracket.

Next, Mouz faced Complexity, starting on Vertigo, Complexity's pick. Complexity began strong, but Mouz fought back, bringing the game to overtime, where Mouz won. On Inferno, both teams traded rounds, but Mouz managed to win in overtime again, sending Complexity home.

In a classic matchup, Liquid vs. FaZe started on Inferno, Liquid's pick. Liquid had early control, but FaZe quickly turned the tide and won the map. On Dust 2, FaZe took an early lead, but Liquid fought back to tie the first half. After the side switch, Liquid collapsed, winning only one round, and FaZe easily closed out the match. Liquid followed Complexity home, while Na'Vi and FURIA advanced to face off in the upper bracket, and Mouz and FaZe will clash in the lower bracket final.
