Exactly a year ago I recorded a series of solo pieces I had arranged from Bach's French Suites. I had been working on these transcriptions for many years and had performed them on several occasions before deciding to take this final step. At first glance, playing some of Bach's greatest harpsichord music on a solitary recorder seems impossible, even sacrilegious, and yet if we look closely at Bach's pieces originally written for unaccompanied melody instruments, we see how intelligently he uses a number of compositional techniques to ensure that the balance between harmony and melody is always maintained. I have therefore made a great effort to learn, imitate and put into practice these techniques.

I would like to thank my recording team Cheluis and Carlos Salmerón for their wonderful teamwork and to Javier Restán of the Fundación Abadía del Sacromonte in Granada, Spain, for receiving us in this magnificent and magic place.
