0:00 - I. Conviction
4:14 - II. Contrition

The final song on Sinderella!... well, only the second-last in the tracklist, but the last one I'm covering. I wanted to end with a bang, make one last grand hurrah to wrap up the album... and now the shortest song on the record became the longest one, lol. This track represents the sin of Guilt, and is a dark ballad with a really haunting atmosphere. Tonally it's way different from the rest of the album, but given how it's almost at the end, it's a good way to transition between the more upbeat songs from before and the bittersweet closer, Glass Slipper.
Since the original song is so brief, I didn't really know what direction I wanted to take this. Eventually, I found a structure that seemed to work. It's something I call the "Free Bird Formula", where the first half is soft and somber and the second is just a no-holds-barred aggressive instrumental section. To my knowledge, Free Bird was the first song to implement that kind of structure (hence the name), but Metallica have used it several times in tunes like Fade To Black and Sanitarium. However, I think the band that does it best is Dream Theater; on songs like Endless Sacrifice and The Ministry of Lost Souls, they do the aforementioned light-verses-heavy-bridge structure, but at the end they come back around for a third chorus, tying everything together. I tried something similar, calling back on melodies from the first half at the end of the second.
Overall, I feel like there's a lot more music that I wrote than what was part of the original song... Honestly, if I didn't stick strictly to the 10 Deadly Sins, I would've just done a full instrumental composition. Not enough albums really have those anymore...
