When am I not allowed to receive Holy Communion? Holy Communion, that is, the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, gives us a life which is far more than simple but rather an eternal one. As we read in the Bible, Christ Himself told us, "He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood hath everlasting life."

Holy Communion is the moment when we get united with Jesus Christ himself and is a special moment for every faithful Christian and spiritual culmination of the spiritual life within our Orthodox Church. That is why our Church has some stages of preparation for the man before he receives the Holy Communion.

An important condition for receiving Communion is to examine ourselves very carefully, as the Apostle Paul tells us in the Epistle to the Corinthians chapter 11, verse 28, is the repentance and confession. But sometimes questions are raised about Holy Communion.

What period of time can we Commune? How often can I Commune? Can I Commune with the sins I have? Who can tell me if I am able to Commune? What sins can become an obstacle to Holy Communion? Can I Commune when I have not confessed earlier ? Which sins are regarded as obstacles to the Holy Communion and which are not?
