The Ninth Gate (1999) was co-written, produced, and directed by Roman Polanski and starred Johnny Depp as Dean Corso. Victor Fargas was played by Jack Taylor. The film is loosely based upon Arturo Pérez-Reverte's 1993 novel The Club Dumas.
