Back when the Oscars had meaning and was a recognised authority in cinema. To be recognized was a game changer for actors, directors and all those involved in the movie making process. Careers were made and failed based on an Oscar nomination or win. Today we will take a look at some westerns that for whatever reason, despite being superior movies were overlooked.
Despite the many westerns made over the last century. Only these three classic Westerns — 1931’s “Cimarron,” 1990’s “Dances with Wolves” and 1992’s “Unforgiven” — and one contemporary Western (2007’s “No Country for Old Men”) have won the Best Picture Oscar.
