The school, which was founded as an orphanage in 1869, and moved to Hong Kong’s exclusive residential area of Kadoorie Hill in Kowloon in 1926, is one of the city’s most prestigious establishments. The school’s alumni include Sun Yat-sen, the ‘father of modern China’, and Canto-pop star George Lam. Two former students from different eras, architect Norman Chan and concert pianist Kajeng Wong relive their memories, including slowly walking past the prefects’ room to avoid getting punished and attending the annual fete dance, and reveal what it means to be one of DBS’ ‘old boys’.
