Hi this is Michael with knifepurveyor
00:02
thank you very much for taking your time and watching this video today.
00:06
I'm going to introduce you to a really fantastic knife maker George Dailey
00:09
George Dailey came from the Rhode Island School of knife making
00:14
In the 1990s there was a group of knife makers who came from Rhode Island and they were all influenced by Bill McHenry.
00:25
Bill McHenry was considered to be the grandfather of the American automatic knife.
00:29
He influenced many different knife makers that we know today from George Dailey to Stephen Olszewski, Richard Wright, Ralph Selvideo and Frank Potter to name
a few.
00:44
George Dailey is a retired Tiffany and company jeweler he specialized in setting fine diamonds and gems in his knives.
00:55
Not very many knife makers have the ability and skill set to set diamonds or jewels into his knives the Boy George is a master
01:00
This particular knife is a little gem it is what I would consider to be a gentleman's automatic and this one is a fully dressed one.
01:03
This knife features 34 diamonds set in palladium as well as 25 sapphires.
01:13
They are all pave set and his attention to detail is extraordinary
01:23
The mother-of-pearl scales are some of the
01:25
finest mother-of-pearl that I've ever seen
01:27
The chatoyancy, opalescent and fire in depth of the pearl is mind-boggling
01:33
Mother Nature at her best.
01:37
The Damascus is Jerry Rados Turkish twist Damascus
01:39
This is a liner lock automatic and this is the only one of its kind
01:45
Many people do not know that custom knives exist especially knives of this caliber.
01:53
One of the beauties of being a custom knife collector is the ability to support American craftsmen and craftswoman
02:00
This is a skill set that very few people even know exists today.
02:06
in my previous video I said that be careful custom knife collecting is addicting
02:11
well it may not be knives themselves that are addicting but
02:15
the pride and ownership and the pursuit
02:18
of collecting knives truly is.
02:21
It's the experience to go to a knife show and see like-minded individuals
02:23
there and to be able to meet the actual maker of the knives.
02:28
Imagine having the ability to go back in time and to order a Samuel Colt directly from Samuel Colt that's unbelievable.
02:38
that's the type of ability you have today with the custom knife making
02:42
