Montreux is a Swiss resort town on the shoreline of Lake Geneva with a great view over the Alps. It is popular for its importance in the music industry as well as the annual Montreux Jazz Festival that takes place in July. The town on the Swiss riviera was home to many famous people including David Bowie, Freddy Mercury or in the past Vladimir Nabokov. The climate in Montreux is quite warm for Switzerland. This makes the region a great place to grow exotic plants as well as vines.
When in Montreux you may take a paddle steamer to go onto Lake Geneva and enjoy the surrounding area. Or you may hop on the nostalgic GoldenPass line, a train in the design of the Belle Epoque. Close by you can visit Château Chillon, a castle built on Lake Geneva.
Montreux is the neighbouring town of Vevey and not far from Lausanne or Geneva.
