The most difficult thing for me, who makes a lot of new products, is the size.
I'm confident that I can come up with any number of ideas, but it's another challenge to determine the actual size of the product that I've thought of my head. However, it takes too much time to make prototypes of wood into different sizes.
So I made a styrofoam cutter using nichrome wires.
We can cut the dense Styrofoam at will and make a model of the right size.
If we cut the styrofoam with a knife, there's a lot of debris coming out of the cut and it's not smooth.
There are also difficulties in having to be marked multiple times to cut the same size.

To solve this problem, I made a cutting machine that can be cut to the desired size by making an early stage that can be fixed horizontally and comfortably like a guide rail of a table saw.
The power supply of the nichrome wires is not dangerous by using a 12V adapter. Nichrome wires are consumables. If you use a lot of electric current, the line will become thinner and cut off.
So I also came up with a device that makes it easy to change the nichrome wires.
The hole was drilled to fit the size of the round wooden rod, the wooden rod was moved up and down, and it was tightened with a handle bolt to fix it. Then, I drilled a hole in the bolt to insert a nichrome wire, and I fixed it with a nut, and I inserted an iron rod so that the inside of the round rod does not burn.
The device also serves to tighten the heating wire. Since the arm fixed in the L shape is made of wood, it has a certain amount of tension. Using this tension, you can create the tension you want by pulling it tightly and fixing it with a handle screw.
Now we can cut any size we want with 10T or 30T compressed Styrofoam.
Of course, we can cut the same size of materials into multiple pieces.

There are other uses that will be added. When we buy things like electronics, the Styrofoam in the box is so big that it's hard to put it in a garbage bag, and it's very bulky.
But if we break it with force, a lot of crumbs come out and it gets messy.
If we use this styrofoam cutter at this time, it's very easy to cut it to the size you want.
Without any effort, we can cut into small pieces in a short time.
Since the vertical height of the nichrome wire is set to 300mm, it is possible to cut a fairly large styrofoam.

I think it will be used a lot to make sample models in the future.
