Full run down DMI, the new downhill mountain bike trail at Powder mountain, Utah.

I was having a beer in the Saddlebag Saloon in the picturesque little town of Eden, Utah, one evening and got chatting to the lad next to me who turned out to be a trail builder at the Powder Mountain ski resort. I was lamenting the closure of Deer Valley bike park and was wondering where I was gonna go to get my downhill fix. That's when he told me about a new trail just up the road from me. Stoked!!

DMI stands for Don't Mention It and is around 2.5 miles long, currently listed as a black downhill trail. While it's rating as a black trail may be questioned, the amount of fun this trail is certainly can't. A lot of work has been done on this trail and most of the berms are absolutely sweet and were in great condition when I rode it. Although it's listed as a black downhill trail, you won't want more than a trail bike; you will be heavily overgunned on a DH rig.

DMI will probably stay in relatively good shape due to the logistic difficulty in actually riding it. To access the trail, you need to park at the first parking lot you get to and then climb up the CAT trail behind the maintenance shed to the top of the bunny slope lift which is around a mile of pedalling. Not too bad, but the final climb takes a bit of effort. DMI start just down the ski slope on the right.

At the end of the run, it's another 2.5 ish miles on a fire road to get back to the main road where, hopefully, you've left another vehicle, 'cuz you're a long way from where you started! I live close enough to the trail to drive to the top for run 1 and then hitch a ride back to the top for more runs.

Happy trails!
