About 8 years ago, I tore apart my first really good guitar, a 2008 Epiphone Les Paul Custom, with the hopes of 80s-a-fying it with Tim Shaw PAFs and wiring harness. Unfortunately, I ran into some issues with the vintage Gibson parts not fitting into the metric guitar so it just sat as a husk for nearly a decade. Sweetwater reached out and wanted to do a fun project with me that showcases their Techs skills and instead of souping up a Gibson Les Paul - I thought it would be more fun to breathe life into this ol' gal.
