Led by Senegalese kora player Ablaye Badji from the renowned griot family the Cissokos, the band’s music reflects the cultural heritage and wisdom passed down through generations. Ablaye inherited his love for music from his grandfather, Kemo Cissoko, one of the best kora players of his generation, and his mother, Ma Awa Cissoko, a traditional singer who would take him to concerts when he couldn’t even walk yet. He was born and raised in Ziguinchor, Senegal, surrounded by the cultural richness and music of his ancestors, and began his musical education by delving into the intricacies of playing traditional instruments like the djembe, sabar, and seourouba.
