As quite a few of you already know by now, Landsknechte fascinate me. To keep me occupied during the last years of lockdowns, I built a reasonably accurate early landsknecht clothing set, with some armour pieces as well (comissioning Radoslaus the Armourer to do an amazing breastplate to complement the whole thing). This wasn't just for living history though, but also to fence in! It's a bit of a hassle to bring everything to training, but from time to time I will be doing some experiments to see how wearing partial infantry armour will affect how you fight. This first one is a simple test to get an idea if such a set of armour would require an opponent to fight differently against you (on account of the most obvious targets being covered). We spar as if there's no armour, and we tally all the hits that landed on the armour, to see if it does indeed cover the most vulnerable spots. Let's see if this is the case!
